1. Defining the objective

To define our goal, let's break down each stage of the process. What specific inquiries require answers? And which design methods or processes will illuminate these solutions? By dissecting each step, we gain a clearer understanding of the tasks at hand, ensuring progress and momentum for the project. You can also sort the tasks on which are more crucial than others to focus on those tasks primarily before completing the others.

2. Definition of done

Define the criteria for completion at each stage of the project timeline, outlining the necessary tasks and objectives that must be achieved before proceeding to the subsequent step.

3. Setting expectations to the customer

Ensuring clear communication with customers is crucial for the success of any project. If there are materials or information needed from them to move forward, like text or photos, it's vital to address this right from the start. By setting these expectations early on, customers understand what's required of them and when. This avoids any last-minute rushes or misunderstandings, ensuring a smoother workflow and timely project completion.

4. Time management

To prevent overtime and ensure efficient workflow, it's crucial to allocate time for each step of the process. For instance, in the research phase, consider the time required for interviews and its various components: planning, conducting, analyzing, and summarizing. By meticulously outlining the time needed for each task, you can better manage your workload and, if you're a freelancer, accurately determine project pricing based on time investment.

5. Optimizing workflow

It's essential to acknowledge that not every day will boast a flawless workflow. Keep your timeline flexible to accommodate both stellar and challenging workdays. For instance, you could allocate buffer time in your schedule to handle unexpected delays or allocate extra time on days when productivity soars. This adaptability ensures you can maintain progress even during less productive periods.
